Pastor Michael Bender (then, Minister Michael Bender) was given a vision from the Lord to begin a Evangelistic and Outreach ministry that was welcoming to all people. A ministry that is spirit-filled, spirit-led, and engaging. He felt the City of Bay Springs needed a ministry that would help the citizens and all who would come grow in their spiritual walk with the Lord in a way the city had never had before.
The Cloud Evangelistic & Outreach Ministry started on October 21, 2018 at the City's Senior Citizen's Activity Building located behind the City Hall in Bay Springs, MS. In the month of December, the ministry was then considered to be a church in the For the Love of God Churches, Worldwide, Inc. The name was then changed to The Cloud Church. For several months, the newly established ministry continued to meet at this location until the beginning of 2019.
Many payers took place and the hand of God moved and allowed the church the opportunity to secure a lease for a location in the downtown area of Bay Springs on January 6, 2019 we held our first service in our new location. While at this location we experience growth, although to those on the outside looking in it might have seemed small. To Pastor Michael growth of any size is a step in the right direction.
Our baptisms during this time were held at Pastor Michael's home church (Hope Well For the Love of God Church of the Apostolic Faith in Rose Hill, MS., now Hope Well House of Prayer of the Apostolic Faith, Inc.) Which is were he baptized our first two members, Sister Tracy Holiday and Sister Amanda Keyes. We seen a few come and we seen a few go, but standing on the vision that God gave Pastor Mike he kelp moving forward. During the time in our downtown location, we seen God move in so many ways. People repenting, being healed, and empowered through the word of God.
During the year of 2020, the world changed forever and so did the way we did church due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Many churches closed their doors temporarily and switched to social media services, some moved to outdoor events, and sadly some ministries closed down for good. During this time we attempted drive-in service, live streaming services, and various other outlets. During this time our Pastor was also experiencing personal issues that misplaced him from the city of Bay Springs. He continued to make sure The Cloud Church had a strong online presence as he would use our downtown location as a studio to record and stream services, so the gospel of Christ was still reaching people through our church. Much later in the year there was talk and plans about moving the ministry to Pachuta, where Pastor Mike had relocated to.
It was during this time that after much prayer Pastor Michael made the choice to migrate the ministry to Pachuta, MS instead of closing the doors of the ministry for good. On May 2, 2021 we held our first service in Pachuta, MS.
Weekly attendance was declining as a result of both the pandemic and location change, but Pastor Michael was being faithful to what the Lord had spoke concerning the ministry. During the time in Pachuta, MS the Lord showed favor to our church and allowed us to rent the building of a church that wasn't active at the time, Tabernacle Church of God. We rented this location until the end of December of 2020 and during that time seen God's word impact many lives in that community.
After leading a ministry in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, frequently moving locations, personal family issues, career changes, and many other factors... Pastor Michael had grown weary with ministry and in January of 2022 decided to non-renew our lease in Pachuta, take a break from Pastoring and closed down the church. With no building and a tired leader, the cloud church had come to an end. OR SO THE DEVIL THOUGHT! During this time Pastor had relocated back to Bay Springs, and while laying on the couch in his living room he got a call from Apostle, C.J. Baker, Jr., encouraging him to continue the work that God had given to him to do. These calls were frequent calls, and was just the uplift and truth that Pastor Mike needed to hear. Apostle C.J. Baker encouraged Pastor Mike to hold weekly meetings in his house for those who were still true followers of the ministry, and that's what Pastor Mike did right in the middle of his living room. With no building secured The Cloud Church was now revived as a "House Church" for several months. We would eat, laugh, talk, and listen to Pastor Mike give us a word all while sitting in his living room. During this time we had been considering returning to a building, and little did we know God was about to show his favor once more. In the late part of December the Lord had moved upon Pastor Mike to ask the Director of the Jasper County Community Center, Ronald Keyes, if the center had any vacant space that the ministry could lease.

Bldg D
On January 2, 2023 the board of JCCC agreed to lease The Cloud Church Room 13. Although this space was only around 500 sq ft, you would have thought that Pastor Michael and the church had just signed a lease for a grand cathedral. With excitement and being led by the Spirit we asked for individuals and ministries to partner with us as we revamped our new space in Room 13. It's amazing what paint, new flooring, chandeliers, a projector, new chairs, and a platform can do to an old classroom. With the help of our partners, we were able to revamp our space without going into debt.
We held our first service in Room 13 on January 15, 2023.
Months later in February, Pastor Mike launched our Jail Ministry which has been a success since the beginning. With many souls repenting and being baptized in the wonderful name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of their sins.
With the vision to grow, Pastor Michael began to pray and days later, JCCC's director called Pastor Mike concerning "Building D" that's apart of the center that had been vacant for years. After careful consideration the church agreed to lease Building D.
On May 2, 2023 we signed our new lease for Bldg D and with the help of many we held our first services 5 days later on May 7, 2023. Since that time we have been shown so much favor from God from those we know and many we didn't know at first.
Following the vision that God has given Pastor Mike since the start of the ministry, on August 20, 2023 we held our first Kids Church Service. Our church has a strong desire to see everyone know about the saving power of Jesus, even children. When we say "everyone" we truly mean "everyone" this is also why we have a Nursing Home Ministry that's mission is to impact the lives of our elderly.
2024 was a pivotal year. In the year 2024 we experienced so many losses in different areas (example: Physical issues with Building D, Our Pastor losing his Uncle and Pastor, Bishop Sammie Jones, etc), but we did not give up. The mission has been the same since the start and that's to make an impact on those around us. Our desire has stayed the same, and that's to see lives changed, souls saved, and bodies healed.
In 2024 God added to the ministry, and we baptized a total of 10 souls in the wonderful name of the Lord Jesus Christ. We continued to work in our various ministries in the church (feeding ministry, nursing home ministry, and jail ministry)
October 2, 2024 The Cloud Church was officially incorporated by the state of Mississippi as a Non-profit, and in the days following disaffiliated with the For the Love of God Churches of the Apostolic Faith, Worldwide, Inc. organization. We became an Independent Church, and on November 5, 2024 our Pastor was licensed and ordained by the Apostolic World Christian Fellowship (AWCF).
In the month of November Pastor along with James Beech collaborated together on starting the only Recovery program in Jasper County. We were able to be added to the national registry of Life Recovery as a Meeting Group. Our plan is to begin meeting in the beginning part of 2025. We have gotten connected with Judge Marvin Jones, and he has agreed to send us men to help on their recovery journey.
